The German government responded to Vladimir Putin's words about the deployment of American missiles on German territory.
German Cabinet representative Christiane Hoffmann spoke on this topic.
She stated that the German authorities took note of the Russian president’s words, RIA Novosti reports.
But the German government still insists on the deployment of advanced US weapons on German territory.
The Cabinet of Ministers calls this decision one of the tools for containing Moscow.
Hoffman stressed that Russia has “changed the strategic balance” of power in Europe and is now threatening the European Union, including Germany, with cruise missiles.
The country's Foreign Ministry added that Germany will not allow itself to be intimidated.
Putin's statement
During the Main Parade on Navy Day in St. Petersburg, which took place on July 28, the President spoke about Germany’s recent decision regarding the deployment of US missiles.
If Germany does not limit itself to statements, then Russia will be freed from restrictions related to the deployment of its medium- and shorter-range weapons, Putin warned.
