Maria Zakharova said that German journalists were banned from participating in an event with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian side sent an invitation, but representatives of one German media outlet responded that they were not allowed to attend Sergey Lavrov's press conference.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry spoke about this on the air of the channel “ Russia 24 ”.
A German media outlet has received an invitation to work at the minister's press conference, which will take place on Thursday, December 26.
The press representatives responded that they needed to consult with the editors on this matter.
After some time, the Russian side was notified that permission had not been received.
The reason given was the need to cover the “Christmas agenda”.
At the same time, Zakharova did not specify which media outlet’s representatives were not allowed to work at Lavrov’s conference.
But the agency's representative stressed that the "festive agenda" does not seem to be a very convincing excuse.
Both Russian and foreign journalists will take part in Lavrov’s conference.
The event will be held online.
The head of the Foreign Ministry will answer current questions from the media.
