Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and opposition parties are suspected of preparing a coup d'état.
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated that the actions of the president and the opposition undermine the constitutional order.
He stated that Zurabishvili and the opposition parties are on the path to a coup d'etat in the country, RIA Novosti writes.
The opposition declared the results of the October 26 parliamentary elections illegitimate.
Papuashvili believes that the preconditions for the coup d'état were planned in advance.
The speaker said the opposition was trying to form a technical government while the president called the elections rigged.
Zurabishvili also initiated the unification of major opposition parties, despite the president’s non-partisan status according to the constitution.
The ruling Georgian Dream party won the elections with 53.93% of the vote.
Four opposition parties entered parliament with a combined 37.78% of the vote.
Opposition representatives said they do not recognize the election results and do not want mandates.
