The Council of Europe, together with the Georgian authorities, will develop amendments to the law on foreign agents.
Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset announced the creation of a working group with Georgia.
The joint team will identify amendments to the controversial Georgian law on foreign influence, the broadcast on the Council of Europe website emphasized.
Alain Berset welcomed the Georgian government's decision to amend the law on foreign influence.
The working group will most likely include experts from the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission.
The working group will work out changes that will subsequently be introduced into the law on foreign agents.
Berse expressed hope that Georgia will implement similar changes in other areas as well.
Previously, the Georgian authorities adopted a law on foreign agents, which was sharply criticized by the European Union.
Tbilisi was required to cancel it, threatening to freeze the process of joining the EU.
Georgia has also been engulfed in mass protests, with participants speaking out against the law, calling it a Russian authoritarian tool.
