A former member of the European Parliament has made an unusual proposal to the French authorities.
According to the politician, Paris should join BRICS.
Former member of parliament Aymeric Chauprade, who represented France in the European Parliament, stated this in a comment to the RIA Novosti agency.
Chopard recalled that France has always been a state that has advocated multipolarity in its foreign policy.
However, political flexibility was lost soon after President Jacques Chirac left office.
During the Eastern Economic Forum, Chopard admitted that such a proposal may sound strange, but for France it is the only way out that will help it move away from the American line in foreign policy.
Joining BRICS is a return to our natural policy, the expert believes.
In his opinion, France is not a purely European state, since it has territories in both the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. Therefore, joining BRICS would not be something out of the ordinary for this state.
