The Finnish government has announced whether it plans to open the border with Russia.
The country's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo shared a comment on this topic.
The Finnish government does not yet see any reason to open the border with Russia, the Iltalehti newspaper reports.
The Finnish authorities do not want to rush into this issue, as they expect that Moscow will allegedly take measures that are unpleasant for the country.
We are talking about sending migrants to the border without proper documents.
In Helsinki they are confident that this will happen when the decree on lifting restrictions is issued.
At the same time, Orpo pointed out that Finland has not closed itself off from Russia and is conducting a dialogue with the Russian authorities.
The possibility of opening one or more checkpoints is being discussed.
The Finnish Prime Minister stated that there is currently no proper mutual understanding between Helsinki and Moscow on this issue.
It is precisely because of this that the border is still completely closed, the politician summed up.
There is no information yet on how long this decision will be in effect.
The Finnish Cabinet is not yet ready to lift previously imposed restrictions.
