The European Union refused to recognize the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
On Thursday, November 28, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on this issue.
European politicians have called on Tbilisi to hold repeat elections, the EP website reports.
MEPs give Georgia a year to organize electoral events.
It is emphasized that new elections should be held “in an improved electoral environment.”
In addition, the EP stated that the process should be monitored by representatives of the international community.
Only in this way, according to members of the European Parliament, will “fair and transparent” elections be held in Georgia.
The deputies also approved the EU's plans to send a mission to Tbilisi to assess the situation in the republic.
