The General Director of Channel One has made an unusual proposal to legislators.
According to Konstantin Ernst, the ban on deepfakes will lead to the expected result.
The head of the channel expressed this opinion during the session “The Future of Technology” of the International Symposium “Creating the Future”, TASS reports.
Let us recall that deepfake technology involves recreating the appearance of a specific person based on the study of various movements and facial expressions by an AI algorithm.
According to Ernst, bans of this kind will not lead to anything good, and the development of technology will take a step back.
For comparison, the director of Channel One recalled the ban on alcoholic beverages and the “dry law,” which had no effect.
[A ban on deepfakes – editor’s note] will make us uncompetitive in the global market, Ernst confidently stated.
He recalled that there is already a working law on fakes, which in essence is no different from the law on deepfakes, which are only a special case of the same offense.
