Wolf hunting will be permitted in the European Union from 2025.

Most European countries have made this decision.

The wolf population is growing, so European officials have decided to downgrade their status from "strictly protected" to "protected", Reuters reports.

One of the initiators of the law is the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, who personally encountered the activities of these predators.

The politician advocates the culling of wolves after a wolf broke into a stable in Germany in 2022 and mauled a pony named Dolly, which belonged to the head of the EC.

A thorough investigation was then initiated and it was even possible to find out exactly what kind of wolf had attacked the politician’s animal.

It turned out that the animal had caused damage to other German farmers before attacking the stable.

From March 2025, hunters will be able to hunt wolves freely in the eurozone.
