Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the slowdown of YouTube in Russia.
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council accused the administration of the American video hosting service of unseemly behavior.
The ex-president noted that YouTube is “cleansing” the online space of Russian resources and promoting enemies of the Russian Federation, TASS reports.
But Medvedev believes that there is nothing good in slowing down the service. The video hosting policy forces the use of such tools.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, “the more sources of information, the better.”
Medvedev added that Russia did not plan to influence YouTube in any way if the administration responded to Moscow’s calls.
“We have told them [YouTube management] many times: ‘Well, you are still maintaining some kind of balance.’ But no,” the politician said.
Medvedev considers the platform’s hostile attitude towards Russia and its position to be a greater evil than Russia’s retaliatory measures.
The Foreign Ministry shares the opinion of the Deputy Chairperson of the Security Council. Maria Zakharova emphasized that there are compelling reasons for introducing restrictive measures against video hosting.
