As part of the new package of anti-Russian sanctions, European politicians intend to strike specifically at the “shadow fleet,” Bloomberg reports.
At the same time, journalists note that in recent months it has become increasingly difficult for the European Union to agree on sanctions against Russia.
The reason for this is the position of Hungary. This country constantly uses the right of veto, which blocks many decisions.
A new package of restrictions could be adopted at the beginning of 2025. Then the EU presidency will be held by Poland, not Hungary.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell stated that the EU is in the process of developing new sanctions against Russia.
