The German authorities do not intend to comply with the demand to arrest two major Israeli politicians.
Germany will not arrest Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Galant on a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
This became known to the British publication The Telegraph .
The newspaper claims that Berlin does not want to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Galant because of the country's "Nazi past."
The publication quotes the words of the German Chancellor's press secretary, Olaf Scholz.
Steffen Hebestreit said: "I find it hard to imagine that arrests could be made in Germany on this basis."
Berlin has taken an ambiguous position. The authorities said they had "taken note" of the ICC order. But at the same time, officials have not assured that they will detain Netanyahu and Galant if they come to Germany.
At the same time, Germany, the publication emphasizes, is one of the world's largest supporters of the court.
But given the country's past, official Berlin feels a great responsibility towards Israel.
