Authorities approve plan to combat foreign vocabulary

The Cabinet of Ministers has moved to the practical implementation of Vladimir Putin’s order regarding the use of foreign vocabulary in the public space.

The authorities are focusing on strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values.

The government has approved a plan of activities for 2024-2026, the purpose of which will be to counter the excessive use of foreign vocabulary.

The new regulation is posted on the legal information website .

The tasks of implementing these measures have been assigned to several ministries: from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications and the executive bodies of the constituent entities of Russia.

Back in 2023, Putin approved a law banning the use of foreign words that have synonyms in the Russian language.

This concerns cases when Russian is used as a state language in the public space. The decision affects the educational, enlightenment, information spheres, and literature.

The decision will not affect only those words for which there are no synonyms in the Russian language.

Such measures are being taken against the backdrop of Russia’s confrontation with Western countries.

Earlier, US Ambassador Lynne Tracy said that the goal of sanctions against Russia is to weaken the military-industrial complex .
