Members of the Abkhazian parliament approved the resignation of the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania.
The vote of 28 deputies using ballot papers was declared valid.
The current vice president, Badra Gunba, was appointed acting president, local Telegram channels emphasized.
Earlier, Bzhania agreed to resign, but on one condition. He announced that his place would be taken by Vice President Badra Gunba until the elections.
Bzhania also called on protesters against the ratification of the investment agreement to leave the government complex.
The parliament building and the presidential administration have remained under the control of protesters demanding the resignation of the Abkhazian president since last week.
Aslan Bzhania, after his resignation, is presumably in his native village of Tamysh.
