A patient at a private medical center was diagnosed with botulism after undergoing a cosmetic procedure.

Details were reported on Wednesday, September 25, in the Telegram channel of the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for Dagestan.

A resident of Makhachkala turned to one of the capital's clinics for injection botulinum therapy.

The procedure is used for rejuvenation and elimination of age-related changes, as well as pathological conditions and changes in the skin.

On the 4th day after botulinum therapy, the Russian woman developed muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and ptosis (drooping) of the eyelid.

According to the department, the patient was diagnosed with botulism. The cause was a drug for botulinum therapy that was not registered in Russia.

Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that such an outcome can be avoided if you first make sure that there is a registration certificate for the drug being administered.

The use of unregistered drugs is fraught not only with health problems, but also with death.
