Experts from the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) have prepared an interim report on the causes of the jet crash in the Moscow region.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the village of Apraksino (Kolomensky district) on July 12, 2024.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 that crashed had previously had problems with its angle-of-attack sensors. This malfunction could have caused the plane to crash, the IAC website says.

The report states that the co-pilot, during the flight from Lukhovitsy (Tretyakovo) airfield to Vnukovo airport, noticed a high angle of attack.

The aircraft commander assumed that the sensor was not working properly.

At a speed of 60 knots, a sudden shift in the angle of attack values from sensor No. 1 to a value of 7.2° was recorded.

At the same time, the readings of sensors No. 2 and No. 3 and the pitch angle were around 0°.

Preliminary, the cause of the disaster was named as a breakdown of the angle of attack sensor.
