Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov responded to accusations against the Russian Federation of replenishing the "exchange fund."

According to the Kremlin representative, such statements are completely absurd and not justified in any way.

Peskov, in particular, explained: “It is interesting how the accusers themselves feel about the fact that citizens of their countries are being detained in Russia,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

Putin's press secretary also asked what goals the United States itself is pursuing by participating in the exchange of foreign citizens for its own.

Earlier, the West made a statement that Moscow was replenishing the “exchange fund” in order to negotiate with Europe and the United States.

Yesterday, August 1, the FBS Public Relations Center of Russia released information that eight Russians detained abroad had returned to the Russian Federation.

The persons mentioned were imprisoned allegedly for carrying out espionage activities for the Russian Federation.

Türkiye acted as a mediator in the implementation of the exchange procedure with the American side.
