The man lay in wait for a young Russian woman and tried to rob her.
But her colleagues and eyewitnesses stood up for the girl, defended her and carried out a citizen's arrest.
A 45-year-old repeat offender from the Bryansk region attacked a 22-year-old Muscovite and snatched a phone worth 80 thousand rubles from her hands, according to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Moscow.
The girl resisted and was able to get the gadget back. In response, the attacker beat the Muscovite, threw her onto the asphalt and began to strangle her.
At that moment, office workers arrived, having heard the scream of their colleague.
They freed the girl, helped her up and provided assistance, and overpowered the robber and handed him over to the police, who soon arrived at the scene.
A criminal case has been opened. The repeat offender may face up to 10 years in prison for armed robbery.
