In Russia there was outrage over a history textbook with distorted content.
Moscow called on Yerevan to prevent the book from appearing in general education institutions.
RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a statement made by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It is noted that we are talking about a chapter of a history textbook called “The forced annexation of Eastern Armenia to Russia.”
The department expressed outrage over the fact that the Treaty of Turkmenchay, according to this textbook, is characterized as an alleged “annexation” of the eastern part of Armenia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called for studying serious sources that call the conclusion of this peace of colossal importance for the restoration of Armenia’s statehood in the future.
If such a textbook is introduced into Armenian schools, it will indicate yet another attempt to rewrite history, which is common to both countries. As the Foreign Ministry emphasized, this is being done at the instigation of Armenia's Western sponsors.
