Moscow to update public transport fares

Starting from the new year, the cost of public transport in the capital will increase.

Representatives of the Moscow Department of Transport reported this on Friday, December 6.

Tariffs for travel on public transport will be updated from January 2 next year.

Thus, the cost of one trip on “Ediny” tickets for 30, 90 and 365 days will change by an average of two rubles.

It is emphasized that transfers between ground transport and between the metro, MCC, MCD will continue to be free.

According to the data presented, the most economical option will remain trips with payment made using biometrics (59 rubles).

The department noted that in Moscow, public transport passengers make the longest trips.

But the cost per distance traveled is much lower than in other Russian cities with a population of over a million.

It is also noted that since 2011 the administration has kept fares a quarter below inflation.
