The second day of July in 2024 became the hottest in Moscow for the first time since 1890.

Roman Vilfand reported that the air temperature in the capital on Tuesday reached almost +32°C.

The scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center said that on July 2 the heat in Moscow reached +31.9°C, RIA Novosti reports.

This temperature was recorded on this day back in tsarist times – on July 2, 1890, or 134 years ago.

Before the arrival of the “African” heat, Moscow was under the sway of “tropical” downpours.

Now the capital's residents are suffering from high air temperatures. The trend will continue in the near future, but precipitation is possible.

On Thursday, July 4, forecasters predict up to +35°C in Moscow. But on Wednesday, rain and thunderstorms are expected, as well as winds increasing to 15 m/s.

Earlier, Moscow residents were urged not to leave children and animals in cars in the heat.
