A case of smuggling rare materials of animal origin was stopped in Moscow.
The man was sentenced for trying to smuggle out rhinoceros bones and several pieces of mammoth skin.
RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Perovsky Court of Moscow.
Dmitry Petrovich Troyanovsky, who was a defendant in this case, was found guilty of smuggling items considered cultural property in the Russian Federation.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 8.5 years in prison. The convicted person will have to serve his sentence in a maximum security penal colony.
As the investigation established, the man falsely declared the following goods:
- the skull and lower jaw of a woolly rhinoceros;
- fragments of mammoth skin.
It is noted that the illegally moved goods were valued at 4.5 million rubles.
