An apartment swindler was detained in the capital, who, posing as an official from the Ministry of Sports, defrauded Russians of large sums of money.
A 40-year-old resident of Moscow managed to fraudulently obtain 20 million rubles.
Izvestia reports on his housing fraud scheme.
The man assured his friends that he would help them buy apartments at a huge discount in a residential area of the city.
He claimed that he would be able to include these people in the list of beneficiaries. But he demanded a commission for this.
Thus, in 2018, the man convinced a businessman to transfer 3.8 million rubles to purchase two apartments.
In 2020, he agreed to help with the purchase of two apartments for an entrepreneur from the south of the Russian Federation for 4.2 million rubles.
In another episode, the swindler promised to buy 3 new apartments for 6.7 million rubles. According to law enforcement officials, the "official from the Ministry of Sports" earned at least 20 million rubles.
It is noted that the detainee is not the inventor of the scheme. This is not the only such case.
The criminals pretend to be security officials and offer assistance in purchasing elite municipal real estate at a discounted price, but they count on their percentage, and then leave with all the money.
