Robbers robbed the general director of the Russian Academy of Sciences institute, Kirill Degtyarev.
It all happened at his workplace in the center of Moscow.
This was reported on Monday, September 9, by TASS, citing law enforcement agencies.
The incident occurred in the building of the Geological Institute on Pyzhevsky Lane.
The intruders entered the academician's office through the attic. There they took 7 thousand euros from the safe and managed to escape.
The police are currently searching for the robbers. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of theft. The defendants could face up to six years in prison.
Law enforcement officers will have to establish the identities of the perpetrators.
Degtyarev claims that the criminals stole money that belonged to his colleague.
She placed them in the safe of the institute's general director.
Degtyarev is 60 years old. The geologist has held his position since October 2018.
