Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region Vyacheslav Vakhrin is suspected of accepting a bribe.
The accused tried to hide from the investigation at night after a criminal case was initiated against him.
The second defendant was planning to do the same, RIA Novosti reports, citing sources.
Vakhrin, like the bribe giver, attempted to escape the next day after the criminal case was opened.
According to sources, the defendants acted in concert in an attempt to avoid investigation. However, they failed to carry out their plans.
By decision of the Basmanny Court of Moscow, they will be held in pretrial detention until August 6.
Vakhrin deliberately tried to hide from the investigation, making the attempt at night.
The defendants wanted to avoid fair punishment, but they failed.
