The wife of the head of the COVID-19 vaccine plant, Yevgeny Makovsky, has had her penthouse seized.
The Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow has seized two apartments in a business-class residential complex in the Fili district.
RIA Novosti reports that one of the apartments, a penthouse, occupies an area of 168.70 square meters.
A similar unfinished apartment in this building is valued from 80 million rubles.
The second of the arrested apartments looks more modest – 61 square meters. It is located in the same building and is valued at 40 million rubles.
It follows from the documents that Yevgeny Makovsky himself was detained in December last year and is in a pre-trial detention facility.
During the investigation, it was revealed that he, while acting as director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums and Enterprise for the Production of Bacterial Preparations” (FSUE SPbNIIVS), was caught taking a bribe.
Makovsky tried to get 20 million rubles from the CEO of Rusbiopharm LLC for extending the contract for the supply of the Convasel COVID-19 vaccine.
If convicted, he faces 8 to 15 years in prison or a large fine.
