An elderly Moscow resident lost his property due to a scam by a neighbor.

A 67-year-old man found himself one step away from being evicted from his own apartment.

It all started with information in utility bills, reports the portal " MVD Media ".

The owner of the apartment noticed that they began to list a person unknown to him as the owner.

He contacted the police and assured that he had not made any transactions with his home.

Law enforcement officers conducted an investigation. They found out that the pensioner's neighbor tried to implement a fraudulent scheme and almost succeeded.

The man brought in an acquaintance who, using a fake passport, re-registered the apartment in his name.

The fraudsters then intended to go to court and have the pensioner evicted.

A criminal case was opened against the scammers, and the victim was promised that the issue of rights to real estate would be resolved.
