There are vegetables and fruits that absolutely cannot be stored together.
If you don't want your food to spoil immediately, remember the list of foods.
What should not be stored together
Tomatoes and cucumbers. Although these vegetables are friendly neighbors in a salad, it is better to separate them in the refrigerator. This is because tomatoes emit ethylene gas, which promotes ripening, causing cucumbers to wither instantly.
Apples and oranges. In this case, both types of fruit emit ethylene, and apples can be stored in plastic bags, but oranges will quickly become moldy in them.
Potatoes and onions. The latter releases moisture, which is absorbed by the potatoes, which eventually leads to "blooming".
Peppers and carrots. Sweet peppers emit ethylene gas, which will make carrots bitter.
Bananas. These fruits do not tolerate the proximity of not only other vegetables and fruits, but also other fruits. Therefore, it is better to separate them from the bunch and store them separately.
Earlier we wrote about how to store apples in an apartment.
