Rust stains are stubborn, but there is no need to despair, as there are proven methods that can deal with even rust.
Often, stains of various origins appear on clothes, which, unfortunately, are not easy to remove with standard washing.
It is important to remember that different fabrics require different detergents. There is one simple rule - the fresher the stain, the easier it is to remove.
Ready-made remedies for rust stains
Rust stains are a real nuisance for any housewife, because they are quite difficult to remove.
Any stain, even an old one, can be treated with ready-made chemicals designed to remove stains. There are a huge number of such detergents in stores.
It is important to check the manufacturer's recommendations in advance regarding the types of fabrics for which this product can be used and the conditions for its use. Prices for stain removers vary greatly and sometimes it is worth considering whether its cost will be higher than the price of the stained item.
Unfortunately, these types of products are very strong and can cause fabric fading or skin irritation.
Home Remedies for Rust Stains
If the stain is fresh and the fabric that is stained is cotton or linen, this will make it easier to remove the stain. Treat such a stain with lemon juice or a strong solution of citric acid.
If necessary, if the stain does not come off, repeat the procedure several times until the effect is satisfactory. Then rinse the stain with water.
Unfortunately, more delicate fabrics don't react well to lemon juice. Baking powder also works well on rust stains - rub it into the stain and then wash the fabric.
If the rust stain is old, things are a little more complicated. The stain should be treated with a 10% solution of oxalic acid. Then you need to rinse the fabric in warm water with ammonia.
Repeat this several times until the stain disappears. After all the manipulations with stain removal, the fabric should be washed in the usual way in the washing machine.
