The smartphone makes life easier and more interesting, but many have long been addicted to the gadget.
Most of us involuntarily reach for our smartphones to check instant messengers, social networks, and much more.
It's hard for people (especially young people) to put their phones down and do things that really matter.
How to get rid of addiction
It is impossible to completely wean yourself off using a smartphone (except for mobile communications) in the current reality. Everyone uses instant messengers for communication, mobile applications for calling a taxi and online shopping and other useful things. It is more important to limit the time spent without special need (games, scrolling the feed).
Psychologists have developed several methods that help fight addiction and reduce the time spent with the phone in your hands.
Turn off notifications
Regularly popping up notifications from apps distract you from your daily activities.
Try turning off the signal in applications that do not require an immediate response. The news that someone has updated their status or added a photo can be viewed later, when there is really free time.
Leave notifications enabled only in messengers (groups) that you cannot miss. And if there is urgent work, then turn off the sound on your phone for a while, this will allow you to focus on an important task.
Use a regular alarm clock to wake up in the morning.
Almost everyone sets an alarm on their smartphone to wake up. And in the morning, after turning off the alarm, they start scrolling through the news feed and new posts, which takes up precious time.
It is better to use a traditional alarm clock and put your phone away from your sleeping place. In this case, you will be able to save time for a full breakfast, exercise, or leisurely getting ready for work (school).
Control the time spent on your phone
Today, many applications have been developed that allow you to control (limit) the time spent on the phone.
The apps count how many times you access your smartphone without any apparent need. You can view statistics and progress in the app.
Set time limits
Limits can be set using an alarm clock or special apps. Set a limit, and as soon as the time is up, put the phone away and start doing your business.
If you don't have enough willpower, install a special program that will block applications (or the phone completely) at a specified time.
Put your smartphone away
Many of us always have our smartphones within reach. Try leaving your phone further away (even in another room) so that you have to get up to pick up the gadget. Then the temptation to pick up your phone will be less.
Give yourself a punishment
Come up with a punishment for yourself (20 squats or no dessert) for using your phone for more than a certain amount of time. Make a bet with a colleague (or someone else) on who can go the longest without a smartphone.
Don't give up your smartphone radically right away, do it gradually, reducing the time of use. The smartphone plays an important role in modern life, but there should be moderation in everything.
