How to Save Battery Life on Your Smartphone: Myths and Truth

There are myths around any business. However, every self-respecting person should be able to figure out what is really true and what is made up.

Below are some myths and truths about battery charging and what affects it.

You should use only the "native" charger

Of course, this is true information. But the point of the myth is that in any case you should use only the original charger. But sometimes it is impossible to get to it, so you can recharge the phone with another charger.

The only important condition here is that the other charger must be of high quality. If it is ordered for ridiculous money or bought at the nearest store that is not intended for selling chargers, then there may definitely be problems with the phone.

You need to "swing" the battery

There is an opinion that a purchased phone needs to be completely discharged and charged a couple of times for better performance. In fact, this really needed to be done before, but not with modern smartphones.

Nowadays, they produce smartphones that do not need "swinging" at all. But it is not recommended to completely discharge the phone (and leave it for a long time). And to fully charge it, too.

Fast charging ruins your phone

For some reason, many people have reacted negatively to such a new feature as “fast charging”. In fact, the phone has full control over “fast charging”, so there is no harm to the battery.

More damage will be done when the phone is charging and the person is using it in some way, such as listening to music or playing a game. Then it will overheat, which can lead to problems with the device in the future.

Background applications need to be unloaded

It is believed that applications "kill" the battery when running in the background. In fact, this is not true. Of course, if there is a suspicion that some application is consuming a lot of battery in the background, then something will need to be done with it (for example, uninstalled).

There are a lot of myths about charging, although they are not as significant as those listed above. But it's time to learn the truth, which will even help extend the "life" of the device.

A dark theme will help you save your phone's battery

But there are some conditions here. For example, if a person has a smartphone with an LCD display, then the dark theme will not help save battery. In this case, you can simply reduce the brightness.

But if the smartphone has an OLED display, then the dark theme can really help save battery power. The thing is that both of these types of displays use different backlighting, which is why the phone's battery "dies".

Navigator, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drain the battery

This does not mean that they should not be used at all. But if there is no need to use them, it is better to turn off these functions. For example, GPS is necessary on the road when you need to turn on the navigator. But if it is not needed, then in the background it begins to consume quite a lot of energy (especially if it fails to catch a signal).

The same thing happens with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If there is no device nearby that they can connect to, they start looking for one. And this directly affects the battery charge.

It is better not to use vibration

It uses a lot of battery for its “maintenance”, so it’s worth turning off vibration on everything where it is used – calls, pressing keys, etc.

Extreme temperatures damage the battery

Therefore, it is worth providing normal conditions for the smartphone, for example, in winter, carry it in a case and bag, without taking it out in the cold, but in summer, on the contrary, remove the case and try not to put it with a lot of things in one place.

It's better to turn off notifications from games

There can be quite a lot of games on a modern person's phone. And they all like to send notifications to their users.

But such notifications often drain the battery faster than it would in a quiet mode. Therefore, it is better to turn off unnecessary notifications.

Thus, it is quite possible to extend the "life" of the battery if you use only truthful advice. Myths should be said "bye", and every new information about phones should be carefully checked.
