The problem of removing stains from clothes is known to everyone.

Everyone has ever had to face a situation when washing didn’t help, so you have to look for other options to get your clothes in order, rather than transferring them to the category of home or for trips to the country.

One of the problematic ones are greasy stains. Machine washing often does not cope with them, leaving traces that cannot be removed with anything.

Not everyone wants to go to the dry cleaner with such a problem, as the cost of work can be extremely high. Housewives have a couple of ways to help deal with such stains and return clothes to a neat appearance.

Dishwashing liquid

Its use is quite logical. Regardless of the manufacturer, they are all designed to dissolve fat.

To remove a stain, pour a little liquid on it, rub it into the fabric with your hands, and leave for 15-20 minutes. Afterwards, the clothes are thoroughly washed in the machine.

Laundry soap

This is one of the best and most effective methods. Wet the stain with hot water, then lather it well with soap and leave it for 2-2.5 hours. Then all that remains is to wash it.

Chalk

Another effective and popular method. Chalk absorbs fat well, thereby removing it from the surface of the fabric.

To do this, rub the stain and leave it for an hour. Then wash the clothes. The effect can be enhanced by pre-treatment with laundry soap.

Tooth powder

It is poured onto the dirty area, a paper towel, napkin or toilet paper is placed on top, and ironed with a hot iron.

Afterwards, the place is sprinkled with tooth powder again, covered with paper, and a weight is placed on top. Let the item lie like that overnight, and then all that remains is to wash it.

Salt or soda

These are also well-known methods for removing greasy stains. They work well while the stains are fresh and have not had time to dry.

You need to sprinkle them with salt, rub them, and remove them. This should be repeated until the contaminated area becomes clean.

Or you can mix equal parts salt and soda in boiling water. Apply the resulting mixture to the stain, leave for an hour and wash.

Stain remover

First, it is important to read the instructions for using the stain remover. Each manufacturer has its own recommendations.

This method is recommended to be used only if you are sure that the colors are permanent.

Talc

A thick layer of absorbent is applied to the dirt. The clothes are left for a couple of hours, or better yet, overnight. Then they can be washed. But, more often, it is enough to shake off the talc.

Important rules

Regardless of which method is used, it is important to remember the following rules:

1. The methods listed are intended to remove grease stains. They may not work on other types of dirt.

2. If in doubt, it is better to contact a dry cleaner.

3. Fresh stains are easier to remove than old ones. Therefore, do not delay, but rather do the manipulations immediately.

4. Before washing clothes with greasy stains in the machine, you should get rid of them. It will be much more difficult to remove the stains later.

5. Despite the fact that the recommended products have long been known, it is better to first test them on an inconspicuous area of the item to avoid the possibility of ruining it.

6. If one remedy does not work, it is better to use another. But first, the previous remedy will have to be washed off with water.

7. When working with rough and dense fabric, you can use a brush or the hard side of a sponge. But a delicate item requires careful handling. It is better to gently rub the product in with your hands or with a cloth.

It is important to remember that fresh stains are removed much faster and easier than old ones. Not every stain can be removed. Good luck!
