Details have become known about the tourists who encountered a bear in Buryatia.
It turned out that one of them was a titled yachtsman. He died running away from a bear.
On Wednesday, the media reported that two tourists climbed the cliff to escape the forest dweller.
One of them was 56-year-old Stanislav Pechenkin, TASS reports. He and his companion went to the shore of Lake Baikal to rest after the regatta and pick mushrooms.
At this time they encountered a bear, which started chasing the men. They climbed a rock and then jumped off it, but not into the water, but onto the rocks.
Pechenkin died, and his companion suffered a broken collarbone, but survived.
It is noted that Stanislav Pechenkin has repeatedly won the Baikal Cup in sailing and organized regattas in Turkey and on Baikal.
