Estonian companies have warned of damage to three cables running in the Gulf of Finland.

The Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision Authority received a report of damage to two Elisa cables, the Postimees newspaper emphasizes.

The third cable is said to belong to CITIC Telecom.

The Estonian government will hold an emergency meeting on the evening of December 26 regarding the incident.

Days earlier it was reported that the EstLink 2 energy cable on the bottom of the Gulf of Finland between Finland and Estonia was found in a state of disrepair.

The Finnish side reported that the restoration will take several months.

The police, together with the Finnish Border Guard, are identifying the vessel involved in the incident.
