A 50-year-old resident of Crimea could have been the culprit of a major fire in the Koktebel region.
The details were reported on her Telegram channel by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk.
The police have established the preliminary cause of the fire and the suspected culprit.
Volk said the man was cutting metal with a grinder when the flames broke out and soon engulfed an area of 40 hectares.
The man was performing construction work in one of the households in the village of Koktebel.
While using the grinder, sparks fell on dry grass. The fire spread quickly and led to a powerful fire.
The man tried to put out the blaze himself, but he failed. The flames reached the nature conservation area.
The person responsible for the fire may be held accountable. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
