A new success of the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees has become known.
The police reported the discovery and suppression of a gang of cyber fraudsters.
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk, reported this on the Telegram channel on Thursday.
A case was opened under the article on fraud. During the investigation, the identities of 11 people suspected of involvement in the theft of funds were established.
Friends, acquaintances and family members were also involved in the criminal scheme, so in total the police questioned about 50 people.
Circumstances of the case
As the investigation revealed, the gang of cyber fraudsters launched its activities in 2019 in the Moscow Region, as well as in the Kursk, Oryol and Tula regions.
The fraudulent scheme was organized as follows: The criminals contacted commercial organizations and offered them participation in closed competitions.
We are talking about tenders for corporate catering, accommodation in hotels and motels, and other services.
To participate in the selection, organizations had to purchase certificates created by fraudsters, supposedly for inclusion in the registers of voluntary certification systems. After receiving money for their services, the fraudsters disappeared.
