Alexander Bastrykin demanded a report on the progress of the investigation into what happened on the territory of the Tula farm.
The head of the Investigative Committee took control of the case of illegal deprivation of liberty of people.
This was reported on Monday, September 30, on the department’s Telegram channel.
Investigators are currently conducting an investigation under the Criminal Code article on illegal deprivation of liberty.
The penalty for committing this crime is up to 8 years in prison.
The situation in the Tula region became known thanks to the work of activists from the Alternative movement. They are working on issues of slavery and forced labor.
According to their information, a group of gypsies from the village of Rivne enslaved several men and women. According to the Investigative Committee, there were 10 victims. Among them, one was a member of the SVO.
They were recruited to pick apples, with the promise of being paid for their work as loaders.
But later they were transported to a farm in the Ulyanovsk region, housed in unsanitary conditions and beaten for wanting to take a break from work, and were not paid for their work.
If a person managed to escape, he was caught and returned to the farm.
