A pre-investigation check has been ordered due to events captured on video cameras at the police department in Makhachkala.
The Russian Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation following the death of a SVO member in the department.
This was stated by the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the republic, Gayana Gariyeva, in the Telegram channel “Criminal Chronicle of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan”.
She explained that the Investigative Committee has begun to investigate the circumstances and is establishing the cause of the man’s death.
Based on the results of the investigation, the actions of the police officers will be assessed.
Gareeva also emphasized that she does not yet have an answer to the question of who leaked the surveillance camera footage that was included in the case and for what purpose.
Incident in the department
The man, a member of the SVO, was detained and taken to the Makhachkala police department. The man died that same day.
Video footage that has appeared online shows police officers hitting the detainee, after which he stops moving.
The investigation into the incident continues.
