According to the department, the leak was discovered at the Igumnovo station, which is part of the Gorky Railway.
At about 13:00 (the same time as Moscow time), sulfuric acid was discovered leaking from a freight train tank.
To resolve the problem, the carriage was towed to a siding, where it was unloaded.
According to railway representatives, no one was injured in the incident.
The spilled acid did not cause any harm to the environment or interfere with rail traffic, which continues as normal.
The reason why the incident occurred remains unknown. Specialists are working on the scene to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
