A Moscow court has chosen a punishment for the saboteur who blew up the car of writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin.
On Monday, September 30, the guilty verdict was handed down by the 2nd Western District Military Court.
The man who attempted to kill Prilepin was sentenced to life imprisonment,RIA Novosti reports.
In addition, Alexander Permyakov* was ordered to pay a fine of 700 thousand rubles.
Permyakov* will spend the first 5 years in prison, and then will be transferred to a special regime colony where those sentenced to life imprisonment are serving their sentences.
For the murder of Prilepin, the defendant was promised $20 thousand (about 1.8 million rubles).
The attacker sent the writer to a hospital bed with multiple injuries, and his driver died on the spot when his car was blown up in May 2023.
Permyakov* claims that he would not have detonated the explosives if he had noticed that Prilepin was not alone in the car.
