Schoolgirl Dies in Omsk After Electric Scooter Caught Fire

A young resident of Omsk died when an electric scooter caught fire in her home.

According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the battery.

A fire in a house on 23-Severnaya Street took the life of a 13-year-old schoolgirl, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region reports.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 2. A short circuit in the scooter's battery caused a fire in a residential building where a minor was located.

A criminal case has been opened on the incident (causing death by negligence).

Law enforcement officers and experts examined the scene of the incident. A fire-technical examination has been initiated. It will help to identify the exact cause of the tragedy. A forensic medical examination will also be conducted.
