Police stopped an illegal scheme of fraudsters who were deceiving Russians.
Suspects aged 17-21 were detained in the Voronezh and Belgorod regions
This was reported by the representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk on her Telegram channel.
She explained that the young people helped scammers from other countries deceive Russians.
Fraudsters, following tips from curators, called people on behalf of bank employees or relatives who had gotten into trouble.
For their work, the criminals used special equipment to replace telephone numbers.
This allowed them to deceive people who believed that the calls were coming from Russia out of 10 million rubles.
During the search, police found office equipment and telephones.
Investigators opened criminal cases. Two of the detainees were left in custody, one was placed under house arrest.
Seven people were also ordered to appear when called.
