The woman decided to play it safe and followed the doctor's advice, but died on the operating table.

The tragedy happened to a 50-year-old resident of Chita.

Komsomolskaya Pravda reports on the details of the fatal incident, which occurred in the fall of 2022.

A Russian woman decided to take care of her health on the advice of her relatives. During an examination, doctors discovered an ovarian cyst of about 3 cm in size.

The doctor recommended surgery, but it later turned out that the cyst was benign and there was no need for surgery.

But then the woman decided to listen to the doctor’s recommendation and went under the knife on November 30, 2022.

After being put under anesthesia, her condition deteriorated sharply. The patient was urgently hospitalized in the regional hospital. The next day, the Chita resident died.

An investigation was conducted as part of a criminal case. Experts concluded that surgery was not required, and conservative therapy under the supervision of a doctor was sufficient.

The gynecologist was initially acquitted, but an appeal was filed.

In 2024, the doctor was found guilty and sentenced to restricted freedom and a temporary ban on practicing medicine.

The anesthesiologist who administered the anesthetic drug to the patient was also brought to trial.
