A Russian citizen was detained in the Bulgarian city of Varna as part of an international search.

The 58-year-old man was wanted by Interpol for fraud in the banking sector, reports the local portal Varna24 .

The Russian was hiding from justice on the territory of the resort complex of Saints Constantine and Helena.

Security forces carried out a special operation on the morning of August 28. National and regional police officers participated in the arrest.

At present, law enforcement officers are carrying out the procedures prescribed in the extradition law.

The Russian will be handed over to the country that initiated the search, if there is a European arrest warrant.

The Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior have been informed about the case.
