The head of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Rostov Region and his first deputy have resigned.
The department's commission has completed an internal investigation into the hostage-taking in the Rostov pretrial detention center on June 16.
As a result of the measures taken, four employees were dismissed and 16 employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service and pretrial detention facility were brought to disciplinary responsibility.
The message from the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service on its Telegram channel says: “The head of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service for the Rostov Region and his first deputy have resigned.”
A group of experienced employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation will arrive in Rostov Oblast to help stabilize the work of the institution.
The department stated that materials on the identified violations were provided to the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General’s Office for a legal assessment.
