Experts have named the cause of the powerful fire at the Omsk Oil Refinery.
A statement about this was made on Friday, September 6, by specialists from the Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor.
The incident at the oil refinery occurred due to an explosion of a gas-air mixture, the department’s website reports.
On August 26, the contractor OOO Neftekhimremont carried out repair work on the territory of the enterprise.
Experts dismantled the heat exchanger and removed the bundle, Rostekhnadzor clarified.
At that moment, a gas-air mixture exploded. This subsequently led to a powerful fire on the territory of the oil refinery.
The fire spread over an area of 1 thousand square meters. A total of 7 people were injured, one of whom died.
At the same time, work to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident continues.
The commission specially created for this purpose is still continuing its work.
Back in 2008, a project to modernize the enterprise was launched.
The work program is planned until 2025. More than 500 billion rubles have been invested for these purposes.
