Rospotrebnadzor: 113 people poisoned by shawarma in Karelia

The Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Karelia reported that 113 people in the region were poisoned by shawarma.

It is emphasized that this number of notifications was received by medical institutions from local residents.

Rospotrebnadzor writes on its official website: “Among the 113 people, 46 minors were observed.”

It is emphasized that the victims are mostly in moderate condition and have salmonellosis.

Critical situation

The first reports of mass shawarma poisoning in Karelia were reported on September 3 of this year.

As various media outlets indicated, the victims mainly purchased shawarma at one outlet.

Subsequently, the authorized bodies monitored the trading platform.

It turned out that the establishment’s activities do not meet safety standards, and they are currently suspended.

The case is under the control of investigative authorities.
