Prisoner riot breaks out in Kazakhstani prison

A significant incident occurred in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan.

A prisoner riot broke out in one of the local colonies in the south of the republic.

This was reported to RIA Novosti by the press service of the Committee of the Criminal-Executive System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.

According to the committee, some of the convicts expressed disobedience due to disagreement with the prison regime.

At the moment, the situation has stabilized, but there are casualties.

Two National Guard servicemen and one DUIS employee sought medical attention with minor injuries.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Article 428 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The chairman of the committee, the management, the personnel of the local DUIS and the National Guard arrived at the institution to clarify all the circumstances of the case.
