In Perm Krai, a court did not recognize the word “sheep” as an insult.
The Lysva City Court rejected the claim of a Russian woman who demanded compensation for moral damages.
A local resident valued the offensive statement at 20 thousand rubles, RIA Novosti reports.
The woman felt humiliated when another person called her a "sheep."
Before this lawsuit, the Russian woman was also denied the initiation of an administrative case under the article on insult.
The court justified its refusal by referring to the “Dictionary of the Russian Language”, where the word “sheep” does not carry an offensive meaning.
According to the court, the use of this word does not fall under the definition of a serious offensive statement.
It is also emphasized that the word “sheep” is not included as a swear word in the “Dictionary of Russian Swearing” by V. M. Mokienko.
The Russian woman intends to appeal the court's decision in the Perm Regional Court.
