Dagestani customs officers detained a Russian woman with cargo worth millions of rubles.
The 59-year-old woman flew to Makhachkala from Dubai and brought luxury accessories, which she did not declare.
Details were reported on Thursday, November 21, on the Telegram channel of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation.
During the inspection of the Russian woman's luggage, designer watches and jewelry worth 18 million rubles were found. She tried to bring these items into the country without going through the declaration procedure.
The woman from the UAE was found to be in possession of 14 premium watches, including gold accessories from Rolex, Patek Philippe and Cartier.
The woman also hid earrings from Van Cleef & Arpels, bracelets and earrings. Some accessories have diamond inserts.
Customs classified this as smuggling of strategically important goods. A criminal case was opened, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
In addition, the issue of recognizing these products as commercial cargo is being considered. This may result in administrative liability.
